Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll remains fully confident of the long term succes of his father's project despite big disappointment this season, insisting the team has “all the elements” to become a future championship contender with Adrian Newey on board.

Stroll's comments, published on the team's website, come as Aston Martin continues navigating a frustrating period on track despite one of the sport’s most aggressive expansion programmes, including the arrival of Newey, major infrastructure investment, and the development of its new CoreWeave wind tunnel and simulator facilities.
The Canadian, approaching 200 Grands Prix in Formula 1, acknowledged the team’s current struggles but said belief inside the organisation has not changed: “We've got some incredibly talented people at the AMR Technology Campus and there's huge potential with the tools like the new CoreWeave AIR Tunnel and the simulator.
“We have all the elements to become a winning team, it's just about unlocking that potential. I firmly believe in this project, even though right now we're experiencing some difficult times. The future is very bright and I want to ride this tough spell out and be part of the journey we're on," Stroll acknowledged.
Aston Martin entered the current rules cycle with ambitions of becoming a title fighting force, but inconsistent performance and development struggles have left the team chasing rivals including Mercedes, McLaren and Ferrari in recent races.
Stroll admitted difficult periods inevitably test confidence inside a Formula 1 team but believes those moments are also critical in building long term success: “It's easy to believe when results are coming and everything feels good."

We've got the right person for the job

“The real challenge is staying committed when things are harder and you have to work through problems together. That's part of building a top Formula 1 team. I genuinely believe the foundations we're putting in place now can lead to something very special in the future," declared Stroll.
The 27-year-old also reflected on the pressures that come with nearly a decade on the grid, saying experience has taught him how quickly fortunes can change in Formula 1: “You have to stay grounded and keep perspective.
“In Formula 1, things move very quickly. A few months can completely change the picture, so if you get too emotional with either the highs or the lows, it's difficult to stay focused on what actually matters.”
Stroll added that his motivation continues to come from driving itself rather than external narratives surrounding the sport: “I've been passionate about cars and racing them my whole life. For me, it's about being behind the steering wheel and driving. That's all I want to do.”
Stroll also pointed to Adrian Newey’s arrival as another major reason for optimism at Aston Martin: “If I had to pick examples, a lot of the Adrian Newey-designed cars from Sebastian Vettel's championship-winning era were close to perfect. So, we've got the right person for the job.”
StatsF1 show that Stroll is enduring a troubled spell in the top flight, his veteran teammate Fernando Alonso has outqualified the Canadian a record 40 times in a row. Neither Aston Martin driver has scored a point so far this season.
