Despite sacking Sergio Perez, McLaren claim that they are intent on securing a race seat for the Mexican on the Formula 1 grid with another team, but he has revealed that he is not sure if he will be motivated to race for a smaller outfit.

In the aftermath of being replaced in the Woking squad by promising Danish driver Kevin Magnussen, Perez admits he may not be interested in staying in Formula 1 beyond this season if it is with a small team.

“Yes, McLaren is helping me find a place,” he is quoted by France’s L’Equipe, “but it is not easy to find something that motivates me enough to stay in Formula 1.” (GMM)

    Thank goodness that’s the case.

Now, what needs to be done to make Crashtor feel the same way?

  • Boycottthebull

I think it was that kind of arrogant attitude of his own self importance was what got him into trouble in the first place. Im sure he can still run other cars of the track in a lesser team.

Does Perez really think that any of the big teams really care whether he’s happy about driving for a small team or not?
What does he think he’ll achieve by making this statement?
I’ve never liked him, he’s never deserved the McLaren seat.
Maybe someone will care about his childish sulking in one of the lower formulas but in F1 Perez’ absence will hardly be noticed, apart from less drivers being driven off the track.

Come on man go easy on Checo, he isnt that bad.. Didnt he out qualify Button like the last 6 gp? Next tear he would have been even better.

  • Spartacus

    Yt,
yes, he’s not bad, but the problem is that he’s not great either. Hasn’t really stood out at McLaren until the end when faced with having to justify his race seat! Not because he’s got better but Button getting worse.

Not enough performance during the year. Hasn’t improved sufficiently. Magnussen is just too big a temptation for McLaren to avoid over keeping someone who’s just average.

Probably deserves a couple more years in F1 with the right team to see if he develops, although I suspect he may have given as much as he can.

This quote was taken out of context. He meant driving with teams like Marussia and Caterham which is understandable. Any driver would feel the same after driving for McLaren. Have you seen their facilities. I have? Very impressive.

Good bye, and don’t let the door hit you in the arse on your way out..

  • McLarenfan

Reading this even if I was thinking of Sergio Perez as a team player my opinion would change as the arrogance of that comment would have me shut the door before he entered.
On the surface you get the impression he is for the team but his last few interviews have eroded any real good impressions,
He has left us with the feeling he thinks he is above McLaren, Red Bull, Mercedes and Lotus as it is a smaller team, then only Ferrari will do for him.

lol hark at all the unemployed team principles on hear, who has scored most of mclarens point since the return from the summer break, what is the result of the qualifying head to head since the summer break, and dont let your fanboyism hit you in the face so blatantly
