Horner believes that every F1 driver wants to race for Red Bull
5 November, 2013
Red Bull F1 team boss Christian Horner said on Sunday that his Constructors’ Champion outfit is the envy of every F1 driver and that four-time individual champion Sebastian Vettel is unlikely to move elsewhere.
“Every driver in the pit lane would like to be in one of our cars at the moment,” Horner said, “Sebastian enjoys driving for the team, has grown up with the team. Why would he like to be anywhere else?”
Vettel won the Indian Grand Prix to seal a fourth straight Championship double of Drivers’ and Constructors’ titles then. He followed that up a week later with a dominant victory in Abu Dhabi.
The 26-year-old German, who is contracted to Red Bull through the 2015 season, began his relationship with the team when he was 14, and Horner said that he is “now one of the all-time greats,” joining Juan Manuel Fangio, Michael Schumacher and Alain Prost as a four-time Champion.
“For Sebastian to have joined the illustrious names of Fangio, Prost and Schumacher is an incredible achievement, especially at such a young age, and it’s a privilege to work with him,” declared Horner.
“You can have the best driver or the best designer in the world, but if you don’t work as a team it will never work,” he said. “But then without Sebastian, of course we’d not have won four consecutive titles.” (Reuters)
