Lotus working hard to give Grosjean equal package to Raikkonen

Lotus team are working hard to ensure that both their drivers will have similar spec cars when they tackle the next two back to back rounds in China and Bahrain, after it was made known that Romain Grosjean did not have the same package as teammate Kimi Raikkonen for the two opening rounds.
Lotus race team manager Paul Seaby said after the Malaysian Grand Prix, “One of the main objectives is to make sure both drivers have the latest parts available to them. Romain of course was running without the latest spec exhaust system and related bodywork in Malaysia, and there will be further additions to come for both cars on top of that.”
While Grosjean struggled in Melbourne, Raikkonen went on to win the race, and at Sepang technical director James Allison admitted, “He [Grosjean] has not had an easy weekend either here or there (Australia), because we haven’t been able to provide two cars in exactly the same configuration on either occasions,”
After a stellar weekend in Australia, Lotus were disappointing in Malaysia, and although they finished sixth and seventh, much more was expected from the black and gold cars.
Seaby added, “We’re also aiming to get more from the car in qualifying trim. We know the E21 is strong in terms of race pace, but it goes without saying that better grid positions give the drivers a better chance of achieving top results. If we can bring everything together, there’s a good chance we’ll be competitive again in China.” (Apex)
