4 February, 2013
In what must be a first for the world of Formula One, world champions Red Bull arrived in the Jerez with purple transporters carrying their brand new RB9.
A day earlier at the launch of their 2013 challenger the team revealed a new colour scheme on their car, which although predominantly blue did have tinges of purple reflection, depending on the angle it was viewed from.
At Jerez, where the team has four transporters on hand, one of which is liveried in the conventional Red Bull dark blue, but three of the others are dark blue at the front fading to deep purple at the back.
The team’s official website now also features purple haze effects on the header and background.
Team principal Christian Horner alluded to a change of livery during the RB9 launch, “We’re introducing Infiniti as our title partner, so the livery is strikingly different. Hopefully it’s going to look pretty striking on track as well.”
Red Bull, along with the other ten F1 teams, are at Jerez to take part in the first pre-season test of the F1 season starting on Tuesday, 5 February.
