Vettel survives first lap scare to win his third world title in a row
25 November, 2012
Nov.25 (GP247) Sebastian Vettel survived a first lap scare at the start of the Brazilian Grand Prix, which saw him relegated to the back of the field and pointing in the wrong direction, before he composed himself and climb through the field to sixth place in an incident packed race at a wet and slippery Interlagos.
Fernando Alonso, the only other contender for the title before the race, finished second and the points tally at the end of a grueling 20 race season was: Vettel 281 and Alonso 278.
For Vettel it is his third championship title in a row, which his team boss delightedly informed him as the race came to a close behind the Safety Car.
“You’re a triple world champion. You’re the man. You are a triple world champion,” shouted Red Bull team boss Christian Horner over the radio.
