Grand Prix International 16 May 2012 Edition

16 May, 2012

16 May (Grand Prix International by We have had five different winners in five grands prix, including two who had not won previously. First of the two new members of the club is Nico Rosberg who in China took a maiden win after one hundred and eleven attempts, and now Pastor Maldonado – 24 races into his F1 career – becomes Formula One’s latest winner thanks to his heroics in Barcelona – and what feel good story!

The guy who brought the big money sponsor and bought himself into a team (like a certain M. Schumacher did all those years ago). Everyone has a go at the Venezuelan chap with the braces, until he shows he that has the right stuff.  so much so that two of the sport’s top guns – Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen – felt compelled to hoist Maldonado onto their shoulders on the podium in Spain. Good stuff chaps!

And of course, the small matter of Williams returning to the top step of the podium for their 114th grand prix victory, albeit over eight years since they last enjoyed the privilege.

In a cruel, bizarre twist in the script: a fire erupted in the winning team’s garage as they celebrated. We have it all covered, and lots more of course. Enjoy!
