Perez world champion and Ferrari dreams
16 September, 2011
Sep.16 (PVM) Sauber Formula 1 rookie Sergio Perez targets being world champion one day and wouldn’t mind attaining his dream in the cockpit of a Ferrari.
Perez tested a Ferrari F60 (2009 race car) on the final day of the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) at Fiorano. Inevitably he was asked about his ambitions in Formula 1.
Mexican revealed that he is happy with Sauber and is on a steep learning curve in the top tier of the sport, “I think there is room for me to do well where I am and that’s my current target. It’s impossible to say how things will go and my dream is to become World Champion and it would be nice if it could happen with a team like this one.”
Perez spent most of the week at Maranello, where he also did simulator work and familiarised himself with the workings of the team away from the race track.
“I have got a lot out of this time with the Ferrari Driver Academy. The work on the simulator, the meetings with the engineers are all things that will help me over the rest of the season and in general in the future,” said the 21 year old who is one of the candidates to maybe replace Felipe Massa at Ferrari in 2013.
